During Lent, you are invited to join in Lenten dinners at
6:00 p.m. Wednesdays at CLC, before each 7:30 p.m. evening service. Please sign up for each meal in advance in the East Link so that the cooks know how many to expect, and consider bringing a dessert to share. A free-will offering will be collected at each meal. Come and join in the fellowship!
Our annual Easter Egg hunt will be Sunday, April 9th after the 10:30
service.
Donations of candy and treats to put in eggs are needed. Please drop your donations off at the CLC office.
"Growing Faith" Sunday, March 19
Over the past three weeks we'veheard powerful storiesof how Christ Lutheran Church grows faith. In case you missed one, or want to hear them again, we have recordings on our website:
Please watch your U.S. mail for a letter
from the congregation! It contains your invitation to be part of our "Growing Faith" Sunday, this weekend, March 19. In it you'll find a letter with invitation, a "Growing Faith" brochure, and a Statement of Intent. You can see and fill these out online, or use the paper copies and mail them to the church or bring them on Sunday. As part of our worship we will return our Statements as an act of gratitude and worship for God's abundant blessings. And don't worry,
if you mailed or filled it out online, you will still be part of our ingathering celebration!
The Costa Rica mission trip team is hosting a Pampered Chef fundraiser party on Saturday, March 18 at 1pm at the home of Becky Fry. Join us for a cooking demonstration, quick and easy cooking ideas and of course some yummy treats! Click on the link below to join the group for a pre-party view of the new catalog. If you cannot attend the event this weekend, the online party will continue for the next few weeks. We will wrap up the party at our
breakfast fundraiser on Sunday, April 23.
Thank you for supporting the Costa Rica mission trip team!
Practicing Hospitality
What a blessing this beautiful Christ Lutheran Church building is. And one of the ways we are blessed through it — and can be a blessing — is by “having company.” Every Saturday
night for six months, beginning April 15th, we will be having dinner and overnight guests— yes, we will be hosting the men’s shelter program again.
Welcoming these men for dinner and offering them a safe place to sleep over the past 10+ years has given many of us a chance to understand better how homelessness can happen, and how alike we all are— all people who need God’s guidance and
grace.
How can you be a part of this ministry?
Bring a meal
Buy groceries for our shelter pantry
Do a load of laundry
Spend 4 hours drinking coffee and answering emails while the men sleep
Exercise your organizational skills as part of the scheduling team
Pray for our guests and
volunteers
Sign-up sheets are in the Gathering Space, and March 19th there will also be people ready to answer any questions you may have.
Do you have any Thrivent Choice
Dollars that have not been directed to the charity of our choice?
Minimum and maximum Choice Dollars Designations
Eligible clients will be designated a minimum of 25 Choice Dollars and a maximum of 5,000 Choice Dollars per eligibility period (Jan. 1 to Dec. 31).
Choice Dollars designated during the calendar year can be directed until March 31, 2023.
There are two ways of
directing Choice Dollars to Christ Lutheran Church:
Computer: Go to the Thrivent Financial web site (www.Thrivent.com) and direct the Choice Dollars on-line.
Phone: Call Thrivent Financial at 1-800-847-4836. When prompted by theelectronic answeringsystem, say “Thrivent Choice.” Follow the
remainingprompts, and a representative will come on
the line to assist you. You will needyour
Thrivent membership ID number and will need to answer some other personalquestions to verify that you are the Thrivent member who is on the line.

New Creation (2102 N. Calumet Ave.) was created several years ago as a center for homeless men in Valpo and Porter County. The Men's Center currently offers supportive services for homeless men year-round during daytime hours and overnights at area churches. The Resale Shop is always in need of donated furniture and appliances, household and office supplies, laundry essentials and toiletries, and cleaning supplies and paper goods.
New CreationMen’s Center helps educate the community on the problem of homelessness in Porter County and on the challenges faced by clients, with the goal to create self-sufficiency.For numerous years now, from April to October, CLC members have
assisted the Men’s Shelter program in several ways i.e., hosting men overnight at CLC on Saturdays (Apr.-Oct.), preparing/serving meals (dinner and breakfast), and taking time to sit and talk with the men who are taking advantage of Shelter services.Along with six other churches (one each night),
CLC
is planning to resume the overnight program with New Creation on Saturday evening, April 15,
2023.Please see various announcements in March about how CLC folks can volunteer for time slots and/or and bring meals on Saturdays beginning soon and continuing over the summer.
