"Who, me?" Yes! You,
too! If you haven't been part of our "Who, Me?" Appeal to help with planning, sustaining and growing ministry
excellence, and above all to grow your faith, you still can! Please fill out your Statement of Intent (SOI) form online at www.clcvalpo.org/WhoMe2024 or return the print card you received in the mail; the brochure is available
online at clcvalpo.org/WhoMeBrochure. We know that stewardship and your response to God's generosity is a matter of your personal faith. We want to be sure every member of the congregation has the opportunity to participate and hear about the dreams we have. Please pray about this. Follow your heart and what is best for you. You can always revise your Statement of Intent at any
time during the year. Thank you for all that you do, and for considering growing in generosity with CLC during this upcoming year.
Join the continuing series in the Faith Formation hour!
Join us during the weeks of Lent for the study of The Color of Compromise by Jemar Tisby. This book and
video series introduces us to the roots of racial injustice in the American church. The six sessions at CLC will take us on an historical, sociological, and religious journey from the American colonial period right through the Black Lives Matter movement and charts a path forward to replace established patterns and systems of complicity with bold, courageous, immediate action. The author, Jemar Tisby (BA, University of Notre Dame; MDiv, Reformed Theological Seminary), is President of The Witness: A Black Christian Collective, where he writes about race, religion, politics, and culture. He is also cohost of the Pass the Mic podcast and is studying for a PhD in History at the University of Mississippi with a focus on race religion, and social movements in the twentieth century. We meet at 9:20am in the Church Hall (big room next to the kitchen). The final date for the series is April
14th. It is not necessary for you to purchase the book or study guide, but if you would like
to purchase the book, click here. If you would like to purchase the study guide (which includes a personal study guide for reflection between sessions – a possibility for your Lenten devotional time) click here. Questions?? Contact Kathy Sutherland (ksutherland54@yahoo.com) or Patrice Weil (psherriweil@gmail.com )

CLC Social Ministry and Mission April 2024
- Each month the Social Ministry highlights a special giving opportunity. April’s emphasis is providing monetary and voluntary support for NWI Community Action www.nwi-ca.com (5240 Fountain Drive, Crown Point) and Housing Opportunities www.hoi.help (2001 Calumet Ave., Valpo) – now one combined organization.
- On July 25, 2023, NWICA joined forces with Housing Opportunities, merging to become a
combined organization. The merger expanded services to address all of the financial and housing stability needs that clients face, offering them a more streamlined experience to overcome the barriers they are experiencing. The combined organization created opportunities to serve Northwest Indiana more efficiently, directing more of our resources to serving our neighbors in need.
- H.O. office in Valpo has a resource center for
vulnerable folks to shower, wash clothes, use pantry etc. Also, Food Pantry donations are welcomed - please see Facebook and www.hoi.help/pantry for updated needs list. Also, a Trivia Night fundraiser is upcoming on the evening of April 30.
- Help achieve our goal of $2500 in April (over and above giving combined with CLC’s budgeted amount of $1200). Use your weekly worship giving envelope mailed with check to CLC and indicate “NWICA/HO” or contribute through SubSplash on the CLC website https://clcvalpo.org via the “Give” button and choose Monthly Social Ministry Emphasis. Thank you to members for supporting monthly social ministry emphases.
