Wilma Loraine (Penn) Simms, age 87 passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Prairie Pointe Assisted Living of Sugar Grove, IL. She was born July 31, 1936, in Aurora, IL. Daughter of the late Milton (Les) Penn and Evelyn (Holzhueter) Penn, she was united in marriage to Jerry P. Simms on November 19, 1955, and lived the majority of her life in Plano. Wilma was an active member of First Lutheran Church of Plano, where she served on the Altar Guild, WELCA, Church Council, and attended book club and Bible study. Wilma was also a charter member of the Plano Junior Women's Club and served as the 12th District Junior Director and a member of the Plano American Legion Auxiliary. A devoted wife and mother, Wilma also held various secretarial positions.

Wilma is survived by her two daughters, Jayne (Steve) Turner of Somonauk and Jeri Lynn Simms of Michigan City, Indiana. Surviving grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jason (Melissa) Turner, Gianna and Coleson, of Sugar Grove, IL; Brandy (Rob) Theirry, Addison and Abel, of Woodstock, GA; Stephanie (Eric) Snider, Porter and Clara, of Somonauk, IL; Shaun (Kassie) Simms, Khloe, of Woodstock, GA; Haley (James) Simms, Harper and Maddox, of Auburn, GA. Surviving sister, Wanda (Omer) Horton of Oswego, IL; sister-in-law, Janice Penn of Montgomery, IL; daughter-in-law, Kathy (John) Bertaccini of Woodstock, GA, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband; her son, William (Bill) Simms; brother, William (Bill) Penn; and niece, Laura (Horton) Palacios.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024, at First Lutheran Church, 200 N. Center St., Plano, IL. The service will follow at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, May 6, 2024, at the church, with Pastor Jonathan Black officiating. A burial will follow at Little Rock Township Cemetery in Plano.
