Because of you, this Church changes lives!
|
In a year that continues to challenge us, the gift of Christmas is reassurance we need more than ever. The infant we await is Emmanuel, God-with-Us through every heartache, delay, and detour. Whether the unlikely presence of God comes at the end of a rough journey by donkey or in
our living rooms when no journeying is possible - this is great good news. The hopes and fears of this year, and of all the years, are met by God’s love in the presence of Jesus, entering into our world just as it is, just where we are, just where we most need peace and joy.
Though our gathering is not everything we hoped - the pandemic is not yet finished with us - still Good News is proclaimed, Silent Night is sung, and in the reflections of candles we see the Light come into our world. Christmas is here and God's gift is to all the world.
A few important notes for in-person services:
- With the local spread of Covid high, we want to do as much as we can, as safely as we can. For all in-person services, preregistration is required so we can plan safely.
- To protect our beloveds, masks are required at all times. Singing is minimized, and we ask that you be considerate of spacing between family groups.
- You are invited to Cocoa & Caroling around the fire immediately following worship, where we can (safely outside!) carol together before returning to our homes.
- Thank you for helping keeping our beloved community safe!
If you are joining us via Livestream:
- Please note: our livestream will begin 15 minutes early to include the pre-service music!
- We will be sharing Communion, so you may want to prepare your space:
- Choose a plate and cup that you will use for Communion in your space. Find some bread (whatever kind works for you; even a cracker can do in a pinch) and, if you have it, grape juice or wine. Note that if you don't have grape juice or wine, that's perfectly OK; our theology teaches that receiving Christ in one element (i.e. just
bread or just wine) is more than sufficient! You can leave an empty cup ready as a sign of that overabundance of blessing.
- We will be singing Silent Night by candlelight at the close of the service, so you may want to have an appropriate candle ready to join us.
- We are so glad you can join us!

While we keep ourselves separate to steward each others' health, we
are including Holy Communion during our livestream on Sundays. Our goal is to experience Communion together, even while apart; immediate, not something available as a recording that someone might use later; organic, not something prepackaged or purchased; safe and accessible, so people don't need to travel/have contact with others to pick things up. Please note: extraordinary times like these require us to depart from our usual practices. We all
eagerly look forward to the time when we can leave these extraordinary measures behind and return to safely gathering in person, as is our norm.
Here's what you need to prepare in advance: Before the service, choose a plate and cup that you will use for Communion in your space. Find some bread (whatever kind works for you; even a cracker can do in a pinch) and, if you have it, grape juice or wine. Note that if you don't have grape juice or wine, that's perfectly OK; our theology teaches that receiving Christ in one element (i.e. just bread or just wine) is more than sufficient! You can leave an empty cup ready as a sign of that
overabundance of blessing. We also recommend having a candle handy, which you can light throughout the Sunday service, if that is safe for you, to help create a worshipful space.
