Porter County is again seeing a resurgence in infection (positivity) rates and cases, with the spread of the Delta variant of particular concern. As a result of these developments, we are again modifying our in-person worship protocols:
- We strongly recommend wearing masks for those who are fully vaccinated.
- For those who are not yet vaccinated, masks are required while in the building, for their own and others' protection.
- We continue our other, on-going COVID precautions (distancing, limiting contact, limiting singing).

Upcoming Worship Schedule
|
September 5: We will have a livestream worship at 9, with an in-person service at 10:30.
August 29: Confirmation Sunday! We hear our students’ Witness to the Church at 9:20am (in-person and online), with a hybrid (both in-person and livestream) worship including Affirmation of Baptism (Confirmation) at 10:30. We are adding an additional in-person service at 8:00.
Please note: since we expect a number of guests and family members from out of town, masks will be required of everyone during the 10:30 service. If you are a member of CLC and able, we invite you to consider attending the 8:00 in-person service to leave space for our guests, and join the
Witness to the Church and Affirmation of Baptism (Confirmation) via livestream later. Thank you!
September 5: We will have a livestream worship at 9, with an in-person service at 10:30.
Starting September 12: As our program year begins, we are returning our Faith Formation Hour to Sunday mornings at 9:20. We will also return to our pre-COVID in-person schedule of worship at 8:00 and 10:30, which will be a hybrid (both livestream and
in-person) experience.

September 12: We're excited to be planning for Sunday School in the Fall, starting September 12. We'll gather at our traditional time of 9:20-10:20am.
Register Here: https://clcvalpo.churchcenter.com/registrations/events/902272
We're praising God for the chance to return to seeing one another in person and building the relationships that will nurture our faith as we grow! Our CLC health policies expect all who have not received a Covid-19 vaccine to wear masks, which will include our children. Teachers will be masked as well.
Your registration will help us to plan, to prepare our teachers and our Sunday School spaces. Thank you!
(Children who will be 3yo by August 1, through those entering 4th Grade, are welcome to register for Sunday School. 5th-8th grades are invited to join Fusion, our Middle School Youth program, which also meets at 9:20 on Sunday mornings.)

While we keep ourselves separate to steward each others' health, we
are including Holy Communion during our livestream on Sundays. Our goal is to experience Communion together, even while apart; immediate, not something available as a recording that someone might use later; organic, not something prepackaged or purchased; safe and accessible, so people don't need to travel/have contact with others to pick things up. Please note: extraordinary times like these require us to depart from our usual practices. We all
eagerly look forward to the time when we can leave these extraordinary measures behind and return to safely gathering in person on Sundays, as is our norm.
Here's what you need to prepare in advance: Before Sunday's service, choose a plate and cup that you will use for Communion in your space. Find some bread (whatever kind works for you; even a cracker can do in a pinch) and, if you have it, grape juice or wine. Note that if you don't have grape juice or wine, that's perfectly OK; our theology teaches that receiving Christ in one element (i.e. just bread or just wine) is more than sufficient! You can leave an empty cup ready as a sign of
that overabundance of blessing. We also recommend having a candle handy, which you can light throughout the Sunday service, if that is safe for you, to help create a worshipful space.
