It is with a heavy heart that we notify the congregation that
Mark Jacobson died February 11.
We have supported the ELCA’s Global Missions, and Mark and Linda Jacobson (missionaries in Tanzania since 1985). Mark and Linda have shared their time between directing Selian hospital and providing community health outreach. Over the next couple of year they are in the process of turning over management to local Tanzanian leadership as they transition towards retirement in the U.S. ELCA global mission support gifts go to programs that minister directly to those in need or for educational programs for pastors, teachers, and lay people who work
daily to bring the love of Christ to people in need of support for mind, body, and spirit.
The Jacobson’s visited our congregation in summer 2017 for a dinner and discussion event. Members of the Schaefer, Rowberg, Wangerin, and Adams families have visited the Jacobson’s
in Tanzania at various times. CLC volunteers have sent medical supplies to Dr. Jacobson. CLC is designated as an ELCA missionary partner congregation.

But now, Jacob(son), this is the word of the Lord,
the word of your Creator,
of him who fashioned you, Israel:
Have no fear, for I have redeemed you;
I call you by name; you are mine.
When you pass through water I shall be with you;
when you pass through rivers they will not overwhelm you;
walk through fire, and you will not be scorched,
through flames, and they will not burn you.
Isaiah 43: 1-2.
Please keep the family in your prayers.
